5 Countries Worth Adding to Your Travel List

Daydreaming about your next international adventure? There are plenty of destinations that offer something completely different from what you might find at home. Whether you just enjoy seeing history, food, beaches, or just seeing the sights, these five countries deserve a closer look. Before heading anywhere, it's always a good idea to make sure your U.S. passport is valid and check any entry requirements, but once the paperwork is out of the way, the fun part begins.

Australia

Australia is one of those places that feels familiar and completely different at the same time. The country is huge, so don't underestimate travel distances between cities. Flying from Sydney to Perth is roughly like flying across much of the United States.

Outside of the big cities, places like the Great Ocean Road, the Outback, and Tasmania offer incredible scenery that many visitors never see. If you're heading to the beach, remember that the Australian sun can be intense. Locals take sunscreen seriously, and visitors should too.

Belgium

Belgium may be small, but it packs a lot into a relatively compact area. One day you can be exploring medieval streets in Bruges, and the next you can be visiting museums in Brussels.

Most travelers already know about Belgian chocolate and waffles, but don't overlook the country's impressive architecture and historic town squares. Public transportation is excellent, making it easy to travel between cities without renting a car.

A fun tip: many restaurants take great pride in their local beers, so don't be surprised if the drink menu is larger than the food menu.

Vietnam

Vietnam has become one of the most popular destinations in Southeast Asia, and it's easy to understand why. The country offers stunning scenery, vibrant cities, beautiful beaches, and some of the most celebrated food in the world.

When in Vietnam, it's best to be adventurous when it comes to eating. Street food is a major part of daily life, and many travelers find their favorite meals at small family-run stalls rather than large restaurants.

Traffic can seem chaotic at first, especially in cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. When crossing the street, move steadily and predictably. It feels intimidating at first, but you'll quickly get the hang of it.

Kenya

For travelers who dream about wildlife, Kenya is hard to beat. Seeing elephants, lions, giraffes, and zebras in their natural habitat is an experience that stays with people for years.

Many visitors head to the famous Maasai Mara, particularly during the Great Migration when enormous herds of wildebeest move across the region. If you're planning a safari, bring binoculars and a camera with plenty of storage space. You'll probably take more photos than you expect.

Kenya also has beautiful coastlines along the Indian Ocean, giving visitors the opportunity to combine a safari adventure with relaxing beach time.

Argentina

Argentina offers a little bit of everything. You can explore vibrant neighborhoods in Buenos Aires, visit vineyards in Mendoza, hike in Patagonia, or stand in awe of Iguazú Falls.

One travel tip is to bring comfortable walking shoes. Argentine cities are often best explored on foot, especially if you enjoy discovering local cafes, markets, and hidden corners.

Food lovers will be especially happy here. Argentina is famous for its beef, but you'll also find excellent pastries, pizza, and Italian-inspired dishes throughout the country.

No matter which of these destinations catches your attention, a little preparation goes a long way. Check your passport expiration date, review entry requirements before booking flights, and leave room in your itinerary for unexpected discoveries. Sometimes the moments you didn't plan become the stories you remember long after the trip is over.
