Kenya eVisa: What U.S. Citizens Need Before Going on Safari

Kenya is one of the world’s most iconic safari destinations, with wide savannas, migrating wildebeests, and snowcapped Mount Kenya as a backdrop. Before heading off on your adventure, know this: U.S. citizens must obtain an eVisa before traveling to Kenya.

The process is done online and typically requires a valid passport, a recent photo, and travel details. It’s best to apply at least a week in advance. Once approved, the eVisa is electronically linked to your passport, and you’ll receive a copy via email.

Kenya’s entry rules also require your passport to be valid for at least six months beyond your stay. Having a printed copy of your eVisa along with the digital version is recommended, as border agents may request both.

From the Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru’s flamingos, Kenya offers endless natural wonders. Getting your travel documents in order ensures you can focus on the magic of your safari instead of worrying about airport surprises.
