When Do US Travelers Need a UK Visa for Entry?

While the world slowly reopens for travel from the United States to other countries, US travelers find themselves still limited as to the destinations they can visit. Normally, travelers do not need a visa for entry to the UK, however, if any of the following situations apply to you. then you will need to obtain a visa before your trip:
If you are traveling to the United Kingdom to stay with family for an extended period

  • You’ll be studying
  • Working or
  • Receiving medical treatment, a visa is required.

As much of Europe is still not open for US citizens to travel to, the UK is open. Due to quarantine rules being unique to each location, some areas require that travelers stay inside their hotel, Airbnb, or wherever they are staying for 14 days upon your arrival.
