Why You Should Never Laminate Your Travel Documents

It might seem smart to laminate your passport ID page or vaccine card—but don’t do it.

Laminated documents can be rejected by customs and visa officials because they:

  • Obscure authenticity features like watermarks or raised seals

  • Prevent machine scanning

  • Are considered altered documents in some countries

Instead, store your original documents in a clear plastic sleeve or travel wallet. Make copies (digital and paper) in case of loss.
