South Africa’s Borders Are Open For Travel


South Africa is currently at a level 3 “reconsider travel” advisory and is open for travel.

NOTES FOR SOUTH AFRICA VISAS:

US Citizens do not need a visa for South Africa.

As of 10/20/2014 South Africa may require certain nationalities to make personal appearance(s) at the embassy in Washington or New York.

Processing time is 7-10 business days. Rush is not available.

$72 is the embassy processing fee.

Maximum Stay: 90 days

Your passport must have two side-by-side blank visa pages

If you have been to a country where yellow fever is endemic within the last 6 months you must have proof of vaccination.

Those with passports issued by the countries listed below do not require visa to enter South Africa. All others will require visa for entry or transiting the airport in Johannesburg even if staying in the transit lounge – please also verify with you airline for any other restriction:

One completed South Africa visa application
Two passport type photos
One invitation letter directly from the South African organization or company sponsoring your visit.
Physical passport with 6 months validity beyond trip completion and one blank visa page
Non-USA passport holders must provide a copy of green card or US Visa and I-94
One copy of flight itinerary
One copy of hotel arrangements
Company business letter – Generate one now and print on your company letterhead.

TRANSIT REQUIREMENTS FOR SOUTH AFRICA VISAS (This visa will allow a stay of 72 hours per entry)
$72 is the embassy processing fee.
One completed South Africa visa application
Two passport type photos
Physical passport with 6 months validity beyond trip completion and one blank visa page
Non-USA passport holders must provide a copy of green card or US Visa and I-94
One copy of flight itinerary
One copy of visa from country of onward travel

Copy of bank statement showing ample funds for travel
